On October 25, 2015, Mission 403 went to visit Brunswick Church of God of Prophecy in Brunswick, GA pastored by Bishop Keith Burch. It was a great time of fellowship and Brunswick Church gave one of the biggest offerings Mission 403 has received during the entire time of its fundraising campaign. The entire congregation was very supportive of our vision for ministry and we are glad to have people like them behind us in support. After church Bro. Keith took us to a delicious seafood restaurant with his wife and children since Brunswick is located right off the coast of Georgia. After lunch we had some time to spare so we decided to visit Jekyll Island and walk around Driftwood Beach just to have something fun to do. I think that Driftwood Beach is perhaps the most beautiful beach I’ve ever been on. I could have spent days there instead of the two hours we got to look around. It was nice to have some down time being so close to our international move to Paraguay. It gave us a chance to relax and just enjoy all the wonderful blessings God has bestowed on our lives. If anyone reading this post finds them near Jekyll Island one day I highly recommend you visit this beach. You won’t be disappointed.
Mission 403 did not get to visit Brunswick COGOP just by chance. I (Jessica) have known Bro. Keith all of my life. I remember sitting in his classroom as a small child at Camp Echeconnee in Lizella, GA. I was a small girl at the time- maybe 8 or 9 years old. But I remember him teaching us about how much God loves us and that if we only ask that the Lord of the most high could enter our hearts and change our lives. I know that Bro. Keith doesn’t remember me sitting in his class, but I remember him and what he said. You see, in our lives we never know what kind of impact we will have on people. In ministry especially, you never know who will hear your words and how what you say can change people’s lives. In our children we have our future pastors, doctors, lawyers, police, politicians, missionaries, Sunday school teachers, etc. Do we want these people to be Christians or not? Everyone has a ministry. Mine is missions and yours might be your profession. Regardless of what we “do” in life I want to encourage everyone reading this that God has a greater purpose for your life than you realize. You may never know how you were the difference for a particular person. Bro. Keith and several other authority figures in my life are what made that difference for me and pointed me down the road to Christianity. Not everyone is going to be a Billy Graham or some great figure everyone knows, but to the people in your community and church you can be a positive light leading the way to Christ. I challenge you to be that light.
